11 year-old Jayden Meets his Hero, Dr. Bonnie Henry, on Pledge Day!

The greatest highlight each Pledge Day is the chance to hear the stories of some of the incredible children we get the opportunity to fund through the generosity of our community. This year included an extra special-interview - where one of our recipients had the chance to meet his personal hero, Dr. Bonnie Henry, live on the radio.

Jayden Weiss, 11, has autism spectrum disorder and was nonverbal until the age of five. With the support of the Kids’ Fund, he has been attending music therapy sessions for the past several years, and through those sessions, is now able to speak, sing, and even play guitar!

“I can’t thank CKNW enough. It’s completely changed our lives,” said his mother, Anita Ridge. “CKNW Kids’ Fund really made a difference because they’re one of the only organizations out there that actually fund music therapy.”

Jayden shared in his interview with Dr. Bonnie Henry how inspired he was by her words, and how he created and sold “Be kind” bracelets to help to raise money for other children on the autism spectrum.

Each year for Pledge Day Jayden prepares a song to sing for Simi Sara live on-air, and even being virtual, this year was no different! Listen below to this special interview with Jayden and Dr. Bonnie Henry from the 43rd Annual CKNW Kids’ Fund Pledge Day Broadcast.
