Pink Shirt Day 2021

Pink Shirt Day is coming up this week, and we’re grateful for all the support and engagement you’ve shown so far!

This past year has been one like no other, and because of that we had to be adaptable and create a Pink Shirt Day experience that fit with the “new normal”. This February, we’ve featured some incredible voices who speak to the importance of inclusivity, working together and lifting each other up.

Simi Sara of 980 CKNW spoke with Reg Krake from ARC Foundation on the importance of creating a safe environment for students. Their program, SOGI 123 provides educators with the tools and resources they need to make their schools inclusive for students of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Simi also spoke with Justin Preston, an anti-bullying advocate who works with Kids Help Phone and was recently featured in Dark Cloud. Justin will be sharing his personal experiences with bullying, and how he has been working to raise awareness of the serious impacts of bullying.
Lastly, Dark Cloud is an informative and moving documentary that sheds light on the growing cyber-bullying epidemic while following the true story of Carol Todd, a mother who lost her child to impacts of bullying. Mathew Embry & Holly Dupej, producers of will share with us the inspiration behind the film, and the impact that they hope to make with it.

Be sure to follow @cknwkidsfund and @pinkshirtday on Instagram to take a look at all the stories, information, and interviews we’ve held this past month!

We also encourage you to tune in to 980 CKNW on February 24th, where Pink Shirt Day partners and recipients will be featured throughout the day, touching on the importance of the campaign, the impact of the funds they have received, and how you can help spread awareness in your community.

It’s not to late to get your Pink Shirt Day t-shirts.

Official Pink Shirt Day t-shirts and accessories are currently available at participating London Drugs locations across Western Canada. Head to your nearest location and get yours today! 100% of net proceeds from sales will go directly to various organizations that support youth mental health and teach empathy and kindness.

Curious about this year’s Pink Shirt Day Design? The white t-shirt with a powerful pink rainbow logo represents the evolution of our cause. We wanted to show a little extra love for the LGBTQ2S+ community in light of recent events in the province, while promoting a year-round message of kindness and compassion for others. Our message, ‘Lift Each Other Up’ is meant to promote respect, dignity and inclusivity for all. Pink Shirt Day is very aware of the call for social change related to systemic racism and discrimination being inextricably linked to the core purpose of our cause: that how we treat each other matters, and that we can do better.
